Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Demo: Controlling a Poop in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have found numerous entertaining creations from small studios. However, one stands out for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure lets you play a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop striving to navigate to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."

The gameplay is easy to grasp: just use a jump control. Throughout one hundred fifty stages, you'll face mini-bosses and visit a shop to purchase customizations for your dung hero.

Execute your movements carefully, since one mistake means starting over. Leap using floating orbs to launch your character higher, traverse crumbling surfaces, and touch triggers to open new areas. Collect currency and use them on tougher game content in which the action ramps up.

Graphically, the demo features neon level designs and catchy soundtrack. Its minimalist graphics with morphing basic polygons may remind fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though hard to think of previous releases where you play as a piece of feces, interactive entertainment have long included scatological themes. For example, in Death Stranding, players craft grenades from character droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as fertilizer. Naturally, such content is present a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Despite its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive recognition, including taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is available currently on Steam, with the final release set to launch on computers this November.
